About Frocksmith Vintage
As a teen I made my own clothes, we were fortunate enough to be taught how to use a sewing machine at school! I would pour through my copies of Vogue and attempt to replicate some of the trouser shapes or simple jackets.
I had an aversion to wearing what everyone else had …Next stop Charity shops and tweaking mens suits to fit..
Instead of going to college to persue fashion design i trained as a hairdresser- moved to London to Vidal Sassoon and from there was plucked to go to Japan.
Following a brief stint modelling in Japan in the late 1980s my love of the search for singular clothes deepened and on my return to London, set me on the path to becoming a fashion buyer for designers such as Yohji Yamamoto, Comme des Garçons and Romeo Gigli. Those years taught me to recognise character in cut, reverence in construction and poetry in small, unexpected details.
Vintage clothing has always been woven into my wardrobe for its singularity, the idea that no one really can tell where your outfit is from but everyone wants to know has always held an appeal to me. — pieces that carry time, travel and taste, and that continue to shape how I dress, work and see the world.
My vintage buying continued while raising my children, turning a personal passion into something more. What began as quiet treasure‑hunting and selling online between school runs grew into a full‑time vocation:
I now source and sell carefully chosen vintage pieces to style‑savvy clients worldwide. Each garment — from day dresses to evening wear stylish pieces from nearly a century of design history, curated to sit effortlessly in modern wardrobes. The result is a collection that celebrates craftsmanship, individuality and unique style.
